October 2026 price watch
October VPN prices: 12 plans ended cheaper before Black Friday.
Of 69 USD plans we could compare at the start and end of October, 12 finished cheaper, three cost more and 54 stayed the same. The reductions came from four providers. Some other offers briefly fell, changed their service period or moved to another sales page.
Black Friday VPN offers started appearing in October. A sale label tells you little about whether the payment actually fell, so we compared the same offers on the same source pages. NordVPN, Surfshark, IPVanish and Mysterium had plans that closed below their opening prices. Mysterium also raised its three monthly tariffs while cutting its annual and two-year offers.
Where the closing price fell
Mysterium Plus had the largest percentage reduction among the comparable USD plans: its 24-month payment fell from $71.76 to $54.94, a 23.44% drop. That is $16.82 less upfront, or about $2.29 per month when spread across the service period. Its annual offer fell from $51.48 to $41.83. Basic and Pro also ended lower on their annual and two-year terms.
NordVPN Complete and Surfshark One+ both closed at $107.73 for 27 months, down from $121.23. Each reduction was $13.50, or 11.14%. NordVPN Prime's matching 27-month payment fell from $202.23 to $188.73. These are separate tiers with different included features; a shared payment amount does not make them equivalent products.
| Provider / plan | Service months | Opening upfront | Closing upfront | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mysterium VPN Plus - 24 months | 24 | $71.76 | $54.94 | -23.44% |
| NordVPN Complete - 2 years + 3 free | 27 | $121.23 | $107.73 | -11.14% |
| Surfshark One+ - 2 years + 3 free | 27 | $121.23 | $107.73 | -11.14% |
| Surfshark One - 2 years + 3 free | 27 | $75.33 | $67.23 | -10.75% |
| IPVanish Essential - 2 years | 24 | $57.36 | $52.56 | -8.37% |
Surfshark One's 27-month offer fell from $75.33 to $67.23, a 10.75% reduction. IPVanish Essential's 24-month payment went from $57.36 to $52.56, while Advanced fell from $86.16 to $78.96. The full October findings table lists all 12 lower closing prices.
The three higher closing prices were all Mysterium monthly subscriptions. Basic rose from $10.49 to $12.99, Plus from $13.49 to $14.99, and Pro from $18.49 to $19.99. Someone choosing a month at a time faced a different direction of change from someone paying for a year or two.
Some discounts disappeared before month-end
CyberGhost's 26-month payment fell from $56.94 to $51.74 in the October 14 record, then returned to $56.94 on October 16. PIA's 39-month offer moved from $79 to $73.71 and back to $79 between the October 13 and October 16 captures. Both ended unchanged despite a lower offer during the month.
A discount that came and went
CyberGhost · 26 months · upfront total in USD
AdGuard's two-year payment took the opposite route: $57.60 at the opening, $71.76 in the October 8 record and $57.60 again on October 26. A month-end comparison misses the temporary increase just as it misses an expired sale.
October's record contains 41 price movements, including reversals. That is a count of movements, not 41 distinct plans or providers. Daily charts use the final capture of the day; the range statistics and full downloads also retain brief intraday observations.
A different duration or offer page changes the comparison
PureVPN's annual Standard offer still showed a $40.80 payment at month-end, but its service period had shortened from 16 months to 12. The monthly equivalent rose from $2.55 to $3.40 even though the upfront bill stayed the same. Its new five-year Standard offer appeared at $101.55 for 60 months. The annual duration change and the new commitment both need their own comparison; neither belongs in the count of matching offers that became cheaper.
NordVPN's annual tiers also changed duration, adding three service months. We exclude those from the opening-to-closing price count. NordVPN Basic's 27-month offer and Surfshark Starter's 27-month offer, meanwhile, finished at their opening payments of $94.23 and $67.23 respectively.
Proton VPN Plus closed at $59.76 for 24 months on its Black Friday offer page, compared with $71.76 on the partner-offer page at the month's opening. Collection moved between those pages on October 27. The explorer separates the sources and excludes that opening-to-closing difference from the 12 price cuts. You can inspect both offers in the October explorer and public dataset.
A lower initial price still needs a renewal check
IPVanish Essential's closing $52.56 payment covered 24 months, equivalent to $2.19 per month. The recorded renewal was $99.99 for 12 months, about $8.33 per month. Comparing only the two invoice totals would hide the shorter renewal period.

What the October data covers
We retained 52 snapshots across all 31 days of October. At month-end, the record contained 130 plans: 119 in USD and 11 in native EUR. The tracked population remains 29 providers; 28 had recorded plans at month-end, while VyprVPN had none. Its earlier observations remain in the history and its missing coverage stays visible in the report.
The 69 comparable USD plans are a subset of those records. Ten EUR plans were comparable, and all ten ended unchanged. EUR prices from AirVPN, AzireVPN and Mullvad stay on their own scale, without conversion. Missing fresh observations and changes in terms or source can exclude a plan from the monthly comparison.
September's analysis found one lower closing price among 78 comparable USD plans. October has more recorded reductions, but the comparable set changed. These counts describe the offers we could compare, rather than a market-wide VPN price index or a prediction of November's best price.
